1) Form three groups of trainees and assign one child to each group.

2) Have each group member observe the child and complete the observation form independently.  Trainees may interact with the child and/or interview Missy (briefly) in order to supplement their observations. (20-30 minutes)

3) Have each group discuss their observations and come up with consensus ratings.  Transfer the consensus ratings to the summary form (10 minutes)

4) Have each group discuss and complete the problem-solving exercise. (20-30 minutes).

For Large Group Discussion:

1) Give each group a copy of the other groups’ ratings.  Have them compare the three sets of ratings using the discussion questions.

2) Have all trainees discuss their answers to the problem-solving exercise.
